Garry Marshall dies at 81

Garry Marshall who directed the hit movies “Pretty Woman” and “The Princess Diaries” has passed away last evening (19) due to pneumonia at the age 81.


Penny Marshall his younger sister, confirmed about his death. Final film of his career prior to his death was “Mother’s Day” which was released domestically on April 29, 2016 by Open Road Films. His career began when he became a writer for the Tonight show with Jack Paar in 1950’s, shortly before he moved to Los Angeles to work with late Jerry Belson.


In 1996 he was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award, which recognizes excellence and innovation in creative works that have enhanced the perception of women through the medium of television. The following year, he was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.


Marshall’s career has been met with deserving praise over the course of the last decades, most notably back in 2014 when he received the Laurel Award for TV Writing Achievement from the Writers Guild of America.


Marshall was a father for three children, Kathleen, Scott and Lori and a beloved husband for, Barbara Marshall (Actress).
