Minister Keheliya Rambukwella in respond to a query by journalists at the Cabinet press briefing today corroborated that Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr. Chris Nonis, has not tendered his resignation to the Ministry of External Affairs.

The observation was made after the Minister had clarified this fact by calling the External Affairs Ministry at the time of the press briefing.

There were media reports that the High Commissioner has resigned from his post following a major dispute and assault by a government high ranking official.

This incident is said to have taken place at an event organized by New York City, few weeks ago.
