Former Deputy Minister Sarath Kumara Gunaratne has been remanded until 01 November, Ada Derana reporter said.

He was remanded after being produced before the Negombo Additional Magistrate Kapila Dushayantha Epitawela, a short while ago on Monday (24).

The former Deputy Minister was arrested as he surrendered to the Negombo police through a Counsel this morning.

A fresh investigation into the accident was initiated after a complaint was lodged with the police stating that a person was killed and another was injured following a crash involving Gunaratne’s vehicle in 2002. However, earlier it had been mentioned that a vehicle attached to the security detail of the former Deputy Minister was involved in the crash, Ada Derana reporter said.
