Religious observances for Esala Poya…

July 23, 2021

The Buddhist devotees were seen engaging in religious observances at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya and Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya today (July 23), in view of Esala Full Moon Poya.

The Esala Poya – which falls on the full moon in the eighth lunar month, usually in July – marks the Lord Buddha’s first sermon ‘Dhamma Chakka Pavattana Sutta’ and the arrival of the Tooth Relic in Sri Lanka.
