‘Ehipassiko Walk for Peace’ heads to Kandy…

The second day of the week-long ‘‘Ehipassiko Walk for Peace’‘ commenced from Matale on Thursday (23). The march will proceed from the historic Aluvihare Temple to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. The peace walk was ceremonially inaugurated on Wednesday (22) from the Dambulla Cave Temple, with a group of monks led by Venerable Pannakara Thero of Vietnam. The spiritual procession carries a sacred Bodhi sapling from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, symbolizing peace and enlightenment. Organized under the theme ‘‘Ehipassiko Walk for Peace,’‘ the initiative is being held in Sri Lanka with state patronage and will continue until April 28. A dog named ‘‘Aloka’‘ is also accompanying the monks during the week-long procession.
