Three more candidates place deposits to contest 2024 Presidential Election

Three more candidates have placed bonds today (09) to contest the 2024 Presidential Election, says the Election Commission of Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the total number of candidates who have so far placed cash deposits for the upcoming Presidential Election has climbed up to 27.

This includes 13 candidates representing recognised political parties, 13 Independent candidates whose names have been nominated by a voter and one candidate from other political parties.

The candidates who placed bonds today include Priyantha Pushpakumara representing ‘Nava Sama Samaja Party’, J.D.K. Wickremeratne from ‘Ape Jana Bala Pakshaya’ while M. Thilakaraja has placed the deposit to contest the election as an independent candidate.
