39 presidential candidates submit nominations

The Chairman of the Election Commission R.M.A.L. Rathnayake announced that 39 out of 40 candidates who have placed bonds to contest the 2024 Presidential Election have submitted their nominations thus far. 

He stated this while addressing the presidential candidates, signatories and others in attendance at the Election Secretariat for the submission of nominations.

He stated that a total of 40 candidates had placed deposits for the election and that of them 39 have so far hand over their nominations while one more candidate is yet to hand over nominations for the presidential poll. 

The submission of nominations, which commenced at 9.00 a.m. this morning at the Presidential Secretariat, will conclude at 11.00 a.m.
