Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the recent shooting and killing of a youth in the Siripura area.

The shooting had occurred at Pulleyar Junction in Gemunupura and was carried out by two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle, said police.

The preliminary investigations have revealed that the murder was carried out under the directive of the notorious underworld figure Gunasiri Priyantha, alias “Pathala Priyantha” who is in Dubai.

However, during the interrogation of the arrested suspects it has been revealed that the victim of the shooting was not the intended target.

The arrested suspects are aged 20, 22, 38, 40 and 47 and are residents of Weli Oya, Padaviya, Kebithigollewa and Parakramapura.

They are accused of aiding and abetting in the murder.
