District Returning Officer M. P. Sumanasekara stated that nine government officials from the Hambantota District have been removed from their respective election duties after being found guilty of promoting presidential candidates.

The Hambantota District Election Dispute Resolution Center had received complaints regarding 19 government officials, including nine principals, a deputy principal, four teachers, a public health inspector, a ‘Samurdhi’ manager, and three doctors, for allegedly engaging in promotion of candidates.

Following investigations, nine of the 19 officials were relieved of their election duties.

When inquired by Ada Derana, District Returning Officer Sumanasekara stated that the vacancies created by their removal have already been filled.
