September 21, 2024   10:58 pm

The National People’s Power (NPP) has issued a special statement following the imposing of curfew across Sri Lanka from 10 pm to 6 am as a precaution after the presidential election.

In the statement, the NPP said that they believe that the Election Commission and its officials will conduct the vote counting and releasing results of the 2024 presidential election with accuracy and transparency, free from any irregularities.

“We also believe that security forces including the police will work to ensure the safety of the counting centers.”

The party further stated that in this context, they believe that imposing of a curfew during the night is intended to maintain public peace during the announcing of election results and therefore request the security forces to take the necessary measures to maintain a peaceful environment in the post-election period.
