The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has confirmed the participation of observers from eight nations to ensure the integrity of the upcoming general election scheduled for November 14.

This international presence includes representatives from Russia, the Commonwealth, the European Union, and other regional countries, foreign media reported.

According to R M A L Ratnayake, the commission’s chairman, these observers will provide vital oversight during the election proceedings.

Simultaneously, major political parties are in the process of candidate selection and coalition-building, as the deadline for filing nominations looms on October 11.
