The deadline for the candidates who contested for the presidential election to submit their expense reports is scheduled to end, today (13) at 3.00 p.m.

According to the Regulation of Election Expenditure Act, expense reports must be provided within 21 days following the end of the election.

However, the Election Commission stated that out of the 38 candidates who contested in the recently concluded presidential election, only 18 have submitted their expenditure reports.

The Election Commission further stated that they are optimistic that the other candidates will submit their expenditure reports within the day.

They also indicated that legal action will be pursued against any candidates who fail to comply with the reporting requirements as per the Election Expenditure Regulation Act.
