Global Handwashing Day is part of Lifebuoy’s commitment to health and hygiene. In Sri Lanka, Lifebuoy is committed to spreading the global hand-washing message by continuing to invest and dedicate time into local projects such as the Germ Fighters Activation in schools. This project has, over the last couple of years has reached over half a million children and is committed to reaching 200,000 children in the year 2010 alone. The campaign has increased awareness about good health & hygiene practices. This means children in Sri Lanka spend more time at school.
Kasun Liyanage, Brand Manager, Lifebuoy, says: “Every parent wants their child to do the best they can and make sure they reach their potential. We would like to reiterate that by simply ensuring their child has clean hands, they are securing their future.”
Message from Amal Cabraal - Chairman, Unilever Sri Lanka
Unilever Sri Lanka is proud to be associated with the 3rd Global Handwashing Day celebration, which falls on the 15th of October 2010, through one of our flagship brands, Lifebuoy.
For over 70 years, Unilever Sri Lanka has been adding vitality to the lives of Sri Lankan homes and families through our repertoire of 26 brands that provide consumer products that make people look good, feel good and get more out of life.
Lifebuoy, our toilet soap brand, has partnered with many Government and Non Governmental bodies over the past years, in order to take the message of health and hygiene across the country. Educative and informative programmes and communication campaigns have been conducted for children, who are the agents of change in our society, and also in the community at large. In fact, hand-washing is a basic hygiene need, and the habit of hand-washing is one that Lifebuoy in Sri Lanka has been championing.
