Fairly heavy showers expected in parts of the island

The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva and North-western provinces during the evening or night.

Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, according to the Met. Department.

Showers may occur at few places in the Northern and Eastern provinces during the morning too.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning, the department added

Thus, the general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
