The vehicular movement on the Passara-Lunugala A5 road has been hampered near the 13th Mile Post due to an earthslip.

It is also reported that a section of around 60 meters of the road has been completely blocked by soil, rocks and debris.

As a result of the blockage, vehicular movement between Badulla and several areas including Bibile, Batticaloa, Monaragala, Ampara, and Maha Oya, has been completely suspended, Ada Derana reporter said.

The earthslip had occurred at around 2.45 a.m. this morning (18), causing severe damages to 03 three-wheelers parked along the road. However, no injuries were reported due to the incident.

Efforts to clear the debris and repair the road are currently underway by the Road Development Authority (RDA), the Passara Pradesiya Sabha, and the police.
