The United National Party (UNP) is going ‘hathara wate’ – in all four directions at the same time - without addressing the immediate needs of the masses, claimed Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) member and Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath.
The UNP top-rung leaders are involved in their personal disputes when in reality cooperation and a common direction were the need of the hour, claimed Vijitha Herath while addressing a village level meeting taking the JVP programme ‘Maubimata Aluth Magak’ – A New Path to the Motherland – this evening at Yagoda in Ganemulla.
UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, his Deputy Karu Jayasuriya, Sajith Premadasa and Ravi Karunanayake were pulling in all four directions at the same time without concentrating on the common problems faced by the people, Mr. Herath said.
He added that the UNP leaders were talking of airconditioned rooms, revolutions and grabbing the party leadership without uniting to fight the injustices inflicted on the people.
“If we are to take the country forwards, all of us should unite as one and take our motherland forwards,” said Vijitha Herath.
