Ranil Wickramasinghe says that the United National Party will be organizing an immense protest on January 26 to urge the government to provide the Rs.2, 500 pay hike to the public sector employees as promised through the ‘Mahinda Chinthnaya’.

Speaking at a public rally yesterday at Mahara the Opposition Leader said that he wouldn’t want to see the President become a liar and therefore would act accordingly to make sure the promises are met.

None of the expected promises given to the people have been executed by the current government, MP Sajith Premadasa who also attended the event expressed.

Also addressing the gathering and speaking in regard to the UNP Leader, Parliamentarian Buddhika Pathirana stated that Ranil Wickramasinghe is not a leader that has stolen or steals.

When the United National Party government lost the election in 1994, Ranil Wickramasinghe picked up his briefcase and left the Temple Trees premises like a gentleman without any greed for power, he pointed out.

Buddhika Pathirana also added that Mr. Wickramasinghe was never a leader who was greedy for power and positions. He was a leader who put aside posts and stood up for the people, he emphasized.
