Viewing of ‘White Flag’ video evidence ends

Viewing of video evidence regarding the ‘white flag’ case ended today (January 11). A part of a speech made by Sarath Fonseka on December 24, 2009 during the previous Presidential election at a public rally in Ratnapura was exhibited to the three member judge panel headed by Judge Deepali Wijesundera.
Consequently Chathura Alwis, a News Anchor of TV Derana who identified the footage and gave evidence stated that he had used footage including the depicted section of the video to be displayed in the news bulletin.
Video footage of a statement made by the former Army Chief, Sarath Fonseka during a press conference held at his political party office premises on December 14, 2009 was also displayed at court today.
Sirasa TV cameraman, Nandana Wimalasena who identified the footage before the court confirmed that the footage was captured by him. The News Director of Sirasa TV, Sangeeth Kalubowila who also testified at court today ratified that the exhibited footage was televised by the media network.
Viewing and receiving of video evidence thereby concluded while further hearings of the ‘white flag’ case were delayed till tomorrow.
