Landslide warnings issued to residents of nine districts

Early landslide warnings have been issued to residents of multiple areas in nine districts owing to incessant rains experienced in parts of the island.

Accordingly, landslide warnings issued by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) will be in effect from 4:00 p.m. today (20) to 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (21).

The NBRO stated that Level-2 (Amber) warnings have been issued to residents of the Udadumbara and Yatinuwara Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSD) and surrounding areas of the Kandy district and to residents of the Aranayaka, Mawanella, Kegalle, Dehiowita and Yatiyanthota Divisional Secretariat Division and surrounding areas of the Kegalle district.

Level-1 (Yellow) warnings have been issued to residents of following areas:

Badulla District: Haldummulla and Passara Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas

Colombo District: Seethawaka Divisional Secretariat Division and surrounding areas

Galle District: Nagoda, Elpitiya and Neluwa Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas

Kandy District: Pathahewaheta, Pathadumbara, Udapalatha, Deltota, Doluwa, Ganga Ihala Korale and Udunuwara Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas

Kegalle District: Galigamuwa, Ruwanwella, Warakapola, Bulathkohupitiya and Rambukkana Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas 

Kurunegala District: Alawwa, Narammala, Mallawapitiya and Rideegama Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas

Matale District: Rattota, Ukuwela, Ambanganga Korale, Naula, Laggala, Pallepola and Yatawatta Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas 

Nuwara Eliya District: Ambagamuwa, Hanguranketha and Walapane Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas 

Ratnapura District: Kalawana, Imbulpe, Ratnapura and Eheliyagoda Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas
