The President spent billions to repair and upgrade the R. Premadasa Stadium without changing its name or spending a little more and creating a new international stadium because he is not scared of the foes that are amongst the living let alone the foes who are not, Minister Wimal Weerawansa said.

This statement was made in reply to an accusation made by Hambantota UNP MP Sajith Premedasa who claimed that funds had not been set aside for the construction of homes and that funds were instead allocated to repairing old folks homes set up by his father.

Minister Weerawansa said that the President did not care about these things and had allocated funds to repair and upgrade these buildings when necessary despite who had first established them.
