The Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar today instructed the Commissioner of Prisons to take measures to ensure the safety of the defendant of the ‘White Flag’ case, Sarath Fonseka.

Senior Defence Counsel, Nalin Ladduwahetti when the case was taken up today stated that LTTE suspects from other prisons are currently being brought to the Welikada Prison, where the former Army Commander is serving his sentence.

He also informed the court that, according to information provided by Mr. Fonseka, LTTE suspects are also being taken from near the area where Fonseka’s cell is located.

Therefore the Colombo High Court ordered that appropriate measures be taken to ensure the security of Sarath Fonseka and also ordered the Commissioner of Prisons to avoid detaining LTTE suspects in close proximity to Fonseka’s cell.
