Co-deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya should be made leader of the United National Party (UNP) immediately as the party is edging further towards anarchy, at the hands of the present leadership, the former UNP Parliamentarians’ association said.

Media spokesman of the association, M.D. Premarathna speaking at a press briefing today (19) called for an immediate party general assembly in order to “establish democracy within the party.”

He pointed out that the party is continuing to deteriorate due to it proceeding according to the unanimous decisions taken by the leadership.
