TNA MPs brief Yasushi Akashi on present situation

A group of Parliamentarians of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) today met Japan’s special peace envoy and representative to Sri Lanka, Yasushi Akashi in Colombo and briefed him on several key issues, including the delay in providing a political solution to the ethnic problem in Sri Lanka.
TNA spokesman Suresh Premachandran said that Sri Lanka’s current political situation, the resettling of Sinhalese and the military control in the North and East, the delay in providing a political solution after the end of the war were several of the issues discussed with the representative of the government of Japan.
He added that the senior Japanese diplomat was also informed that even tough speaking of unitary alliance the Sri Lankan government is acting in contrast to it.
Yasushi Akashi had stated that this is the ideal period for a political solution as it is nearly three years since the end of the conflict.
He also assured to discuss, during his meetings with government officials and representatives, regarding the immediate introduction of a permanent political solution.
TNA leader R.Sambandan was among the seven TNA MPs who met Mr. Akashi, who is currently on a visit to the country.
