The UNP working committee will be informed of all matters concerning the appointments of party officials according to the party constitution within the next ten days, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe informed.

Speaking to the media following a UNP Working Committee meeting today (December 7) at Sirikotha, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka stated that the new party officials for 2012 will be appointed before December 31.

He further stated that the working committee should come to a consensus regarding the appointment of the officials or else the committee would have to resort to a secret ballot.

Furthermore, the working committee will also take action against those members who did not actively participate in the protest against the government today at Hyde Park.
