Blast targeting J’pura memorial statue - IUSF

A bomb blast was reported from the Sri Jayawardenapura University at around 2.45am today morning, Sanjeewa Bandara, convener of Inter University Student’s Federation (IUSF) told Ada Derana a short while ago. He added that an unidentified gang had attempted to blast the Student Heroes Memorial statue.
Calls were made to the Mirihana police and to 119 however no one reported to the scene until hours later, Bandara added. Bandara accused the delay in responding to the blast was a sign of the complicity of the security forces.
All students are refraining from attending lectures until their security is guaranteed, he added. This was a blatant threat to the student movement, he claimed.
