SLFP General Secretary and Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said that the members of the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha and the Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva had been asked by the party to conduct themselves peacefully and respectably.

The Kelaniya PS members have collected against Minister Silva alleging that the Minister was involved in corruption and extortion to which the Minister has branded all accusations as nonsense.

The Minister stated that the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha members and the Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva have been briefed on their legal rights to make complaints and follow procedures with the police, bribery commission, defence secretary and the party authorities.

He said that both parties were trying to show their strength through their numbers after which the party had directed them to stop taking the sensitive matter to the media.
