Bus strike tomorrow due to fuel hike

Private bus operators will go on a strike from midnight tomorrow (February 11) after diesel prices were increased by Rs.31 per litre, Private Bus Owners Association President Gemunu Wijeyratne stated.

He stated that the bus operators will meet tomorrow morning at 11am to take a final decision on the strike.

The All-island Private Bus Owners Federation Secretary Anjana Priyanjith stated that their members will not operate tomorrow stating that the fuel hike makes it impossible to maintain the transport sector.
