The United States is expected to make a statement on Sri Lanka today at 10.30am Geneva time (2.30pm local time). US Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Maria Otero was earlier scheduled to speak yesterday.

However US failed to make the statement yesterday giving rise to speculation that the US had withdrawn from pursuing matters regarding Sri Lanka. However the Order of the Day for the UN Human Rights Council obtained by Ada Derana revealed that Otero was scheduled to speak today.
