Suspect claims Sarath Manamendra gave him revolver

A suspect arrested by Mirihana Police last night for possession of a revolver, upon interrogation has claimed that Nawa Sihala Urumaya leader Sarath Manamendra had provided him with the firearm.

The suspect was arrested following a special search operation in the Mirihana area last night, while two bullets were also discovered in addition to the foreign-made revolver.

Police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana stated that Sarath Manamendra is to be questioned regarding the allegation.

Meanwhile the apprehended suspect is to be produced at the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court today (03).
