Mohammed Maharoof has been recommended to fill the vacant post of Opposition Leader of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) after Milinda Moragoda resigned from the post last evening (April 25).

Moragoda announced his resignation from the CMC last evening at a meeting with the opposition parties of the CMC.

Maharoof’s name has been proposed to fill the vacant position while a letter has been addressed to the President regarding the change with the signatures of 17 opposition members.

However, two of the members who attended the meeting yesterday had not placed their signature endorsing the change.
