Man gets life in prison for drug possession

A man found guilty over charges of possessing 3 grams of heroin was sentenced to life in prison with hard labour by the Colombo High Court today (May 04), after over 13 years since his arrest.
Charges against the suspect, arrested in November 1998 in Colombo for heroin possession, have been proven beyond reasonable doubt, High Court Judge Lalith Jayasuriya had declared.
Therefore the judge, announcing his verdict, sentenced him to life imprisonment with hard labour.
