Court prevents dissolution of North Central PC before term ends

May 8, 2012   01:51 pm

A stay order was issued by court today preventing the dissolution of North Central Provincial Council before its term expires.

UNP Provincial Councilor Anil Ratnayaka in a petition had stated that while the term of the North Central Provincial Council is to officially end on September 17, 2013, the Chief Minister of the Province is attempting to dissolve the Provincial Council before that date.

He charged that this is being attempted by disgracing the people’s vote and with the intention of political advantages.
