An army soldier has broken into a home in Kulugammana, Kandy today (19) morning and had opened fire on its residents killing a mother and daughter while injuring the father.

Police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana said the father has been hospitalized along with the soldier, who is said to have suffered injuries as a result of a brawl with the murdered girl’s brother.

The bother of the female youth had reportedly managed to capture the soldier, currently receiving treatment at the Kandy Hospital, following the shooting incident.
