Channel-4 Director asked to leave country

Television Director of the London-based Channel-4 TV, Stuart Cosgrave who had been in Sri Lanka has been asked to leave the country, Immigration and Emigration Controller General Chulananda Perera says.

Meanwhile Cosgrave’s Jaffna born Tamil wife Shirani Sabaratnam, an editor and a presenter at Channel-4, which has aired a series of controversial documentaries against Sri Lanka, was denied entry to the country when she arrived on Sunday.

She had allegedly been involved with the LTTE and therefore has been black listed, sources claimed.

Last’s controversial documentary “Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields” and other subsequent footage broadcast on Channel 4 accused Sri Lankan forces of allegedly committing human rights violations.

The Sri Lankan government has denied all the allegations in the documentary.
