Discussion to be held on Non-Academic staff salaries

A special discussion between the University Non-Academic staff and the Labour Commissioner regarding the salaries of the workers will be held today (June 12), the Inter-University Trade Union Federation stated.

 

President of the Union, R.M. Chandrapala said that the meeting is scheduled to take place at 2.30pm today while adding that if the discussions are unsuccessful, the non-academic staff strike will continue.

 

Chandrapala stated that he was not ready to become anybody’s political puppet and would not give up despite any obstacle that may come.

 

Meanwhile, Higher Education Minister, S.B. Dissanayake stated earlier that there was a political hand behind this problem.
