VIDEO: 7-year-old girl raped and dumped in canal

Police today discovered the body of a 7-year-old girl from Kirulapone who is suspected to have been raped by two teenagers and dumped in a drainage canal.

The girl had gone missing last night while returning from a festival at the church in Siddhartha Road.

Acting on information received, police had made a requested to the navy, who found the body at around 1.00 am today in a drainage canal on Pipe Road, Narahenpita.

Kirulapone Police launched an investigation into the incident and have arrested two teenagers, aged 18 and 16, living in close proximity to the victim’s house.

Police suspect that the underage girl was raped and then dumped in the canal.

Kirulapone Police is conducting further investigations.
