VIDEO: Govt. profiting under the guise of dengue eradication

The JVP today accused the government of profiting by fining the public under the guise of eradicating dengue.

While accepting that the people of the country do have a responsibility in eradicating dengue mosquitoes, Tilvin Silva however said that what the government should do is make the public aware of that responsibility and gain their contribution for the cause.

Instead of doing that the government is currently imposing another fine on the masses, who are already burdened by the economy, the JVP General Secretary said at a press conference.

He announced that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna will launch a public awareness and coordination campaign against the continuing stubborn, anti-democratic and arbitrary conduct of the ruling government.

As the first step of this, a vehicle parade will be held from Dondra Point (Devundara Thuduwa) to Point Pedro (Devundara Thuduwa) starting from July 27, he said.
