Attorneys boycotting court activities gathered outside the Hulfsdorf court complex premises today

Activities at all courts in the island have reportedly come to a standstill today (20) due to attorneys withdrawing from court duties in protest of the alleged threatening of the Mannar magistrate and also attacking and damaging of the court complex by a minister.

No cases were taken up at the open court today due to the absence of lawyers, the Judges Association of Sri Lanka (JASL) stated.

A spokesman of the association said that only essential cases were heard at judge chambers.

Meanwhile police say that an investigation is ongoing regarding the Cabinet Minister in question.
