July 25, 2012   02:46 pm

A group of lawyers staged a protest outside the Hulftsdorp Court complex today (July 25) against the threats issued to the Mannar Magistrate and the attack on the Magistrate court house which were allegedly carried out by Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

However, the lawyers protested that no action had yet been taken against the Minister.

The protest caused a severe traffic jam in the area as the road in front of the court complex was blocked by protestors.

Speaking at a press conference following the protest, Senior Attorney, Gunaratne Bandara stated that a petition regarding this situation will be handed over to the Appeals Court.
