Substandard diesel?

Substandard diesel?

July 31, 2012   11:44 am

A three-member committee has been appointed by Ministry of Petroleum Industries to look into complaints of substandard diesel. It has been reported that several buses, trains and cars have been effected after using substandard diesel.

It was yesterday reported that several buses of the Ambalangoda Depot were in a unusable state for the past several days allegedly due to an effect from the diesel used for the buses.

As a result of this SLTB long-distance transport services from Ambalangoda to Nuwara Eliya, Mahiyanganaya and Ampara had come to a standstill.

A spokesman of the bus depot, when inquired in regard to the issue, stated that the cause for the breakdown of the buses has not been identified yet and that diesel samples have been submitted to the CPC for relevant tests.

However, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation had claimed that rumors spreading recently of vehicles malfunctioning due to inferior diesel use cannot be accepted.

Nevertheless if such complaints are received an inquiry will be conducted, it had said in a statement.
