Two Sri Lankan passengers were arrested for smoking in the lavatory of an aircraft arriving to Colombo from Kuwait yesterday (06), police said.
The two passengers were caught smoking when flight staff had inspected the lavatory after the smoke alarm system inside the plane had been triggered.
After initially being warned not to smoke, they had argued with the plane’s crew while the chief pilot had later decided to hand them over to Katunayake International Airport Police.
The arrested suspects, residents of Kirimatiyana and Udadeniya, are to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (07).
Katunayake Airport Police is conducting further investigations.
