108 complaints on election law violations

The complaints center of the Elections Secretariat say it has received a total of 108 complaints pertaining to violations of election laws.

Meanwhile the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) says over 50 complaints of election law violations have been received and that a majority were reported from Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa Districts.

Especially complaints regarding the use of state property and state officials for election propaganda work have been reported from Anuradhapura and Kegalle Districts, said Executive Director of PAFFREL Rohana Hettiarachchi.

He stated that they intend to complain to the Commissioner of Elections regarding these matters.

The Campaign for Free and Fair Election says that using state property for election related activities has drastically increased compared to previous elections.
