TNA gets stood up by SLMC

September 15, 2012   12:07 pm

Scheduled discussions between the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) did not take place yesterday, after representatives of the latter failed to attend the crucial talks regarding the Eastern Province administration.

TNA MP M. Sumanthiran stated that although his party was prepared for discussions, MPs of the Muslim Congress did not show up yesterday, and therefore talks were not held.

The leadership of the SLMC was not able to attend discussion with the TNA due to them holding discussion with the government last night, sources within the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress said.

Sources also claim that the SLMC will most probably join the UPFA to form the administration of the Eastern Provincial Council.
