Malaka and Army Major to appear before courts tomorrow

The Fort Magistrate has ordered Malaka Silva, Rehan Wijeratne and the Army Major who was allegedly assaulted by them to appear before the court tomorrow (September 21).
The attorney representing the Army Major, who was injured in a brawl at a five-star hotel recently, filed an affidavit before the Fort Magistrate stating that he was not assaulted by Malaka Silva and Rehan Wijeratne and agreeing to settle the issue.
The son of Public Relations and Public Affairs Minister Mervyn Silva, Malaka and others surrendered to the Slave Island police on September 17 over the alleged assault on the Army Major.
They were produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate and remanded until September 24.
It was previously reported that the Army Major was injured and hospitalized after allegedly being assaulted by Malaka Silva at a five-star hotel in Colombo on September 8.
