Sunday Leader editor Frederica Jansz says her services have been terminated as she has refused to change her editorial policy to support the government.
Jansz, who became Editor after the assassination of Editor-in-Chief Lasantha Wickrematunge, had famously interviewed former Army Chief and then Presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka in which he had allegedly claimed Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa had given orders not to accommodate any LTTE cadres attempting to surrender with white flags.
She was named as a key witness in the ‘White Flag’ court case over Fonseka’s comments.
Fonseka had later told the Courts that Janz had distorted a reply that he had given to a question that she had put forward in her own words in order to build this story.
