Former convener of the Inter University Students Federation and FSP stalwart Udul Premaratne and two other JVP supporters have been arrested by Boralesgamuwa Police over an assault.

A clash between a group of members of the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) and members of the JVP had occurred yesterday in the Sirimal Mawatha area between Pepiliyana and Rattanapitiya.

FSP members lodged a complaint with Boralesgamuwa Police yesterday claiming JVP supporters had arrived on bikes and assaulted them while they were pasting posters for the ‘IL Maha Viru Samaruma,’ November Heroes’ Day.

Udul Premaratne and two Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna supporters were arrested over the incident, which had taken place at around 2.00pm.

The FSP, a breakaway faction of the JVP, claims that Premaratne was also present during the incident and that he was assaulted by the JVP supporters.

However, the two JVP supporters have been released on bail.
