Around 50 students hospitalised in Balangoda

Around 50 students from the Weligapola Walagamba Vidyalaya in Balangoda were hospitalised after falling ill this morning (November 16), an Ada Derana correspondent reported.

The students displayed symptoms such as itching, vomiting and dizziness hospital sources stated.

Menawhile, around 1000 students from Gampola Jinaraja Bhalika Vidyalaya were admitted to the Gampola base hospital following allergic reactions on November 14.

Hospital sources claimed that it was unlikely that the allergic reaction was caused by consuming some type of food.

The allergic reactions were more likely caused by a chemical reaction with an airborne substance or from small insects.
