Former Mayor of Dambulla Jaliya Opatha who was arrested on June 17 was remanded until July 14. The order was made when the former mayor was produced before the Dambulla Magistrate today. The former mayor was arrested charges of engaging in unlawful excavation activities in a forest reserve. Pictured here Opatha being taken back to remand custody after the hearing.
