Girl dies after brutal assault by father

Police are hunting for a man charged with brutally assaulting and murdering his one-year-old daughter in Moradana, Piliyandala.
The suspect, serving with the Sri Lanka Navy, had reportedly quarreled with his wife last night and unable to contain his anger had assaulted the little girl during the argument.
The victim who had become unconscious after the attack was pronounced dead upon admittance to hospital, police said.
The suspect has fled the area following the incident while Piliyandala Police is conducting further investigations.
