Ten inmates escape Awissawella prison

Ten inmates have escaped from the Awissawella prison early this morning, Police Spokesman Prishantha Jayakodi told Ada Derana a short while ago. The inmates had been brought to the prison last night and were scheduled to be produced before court today, he added.

Search operations are underway to nab the escapees, Jayakodi claimed.
